Friday is a social calendar. Capture a Spark before it disappears, turn it into a dated Event, invite people, RSVP, and keep personal plans next to the ones you share. It is not a replacement for work meetings — it is for everything else.

A Spark is a plan that does not have a fixed date yet — the idea you want to keep. An Event has a date and time (or an all-day span). You can convert a Spark into an Event when the date is settled, including after a poll.

Use the create flow in the app to add a title, optional date, place, people, stickers, and reminders. If you skip the date, it stays a Spark. If you set a date, it becomes an Event on your calendar.

Your handle is how people find and mention you on Friday, shown with @. It must be unique. You can change it from Settings → Your Profile → Handle, with a cooldown before you can change it again.

By default, other people can see your handle and profile photo. You can adjust account privacy in Settings. Phone-number discoverability is on unless you turn it off, so friends can find you the way they do in other chat apps.

Open Settings → Privacy & Visibility → Blocked Accounts, or block from a profile. Blocked people cannot interact with you on Friday in the usual ways.

Friday may ask for notification permission when you first install the app, so event reminders can reach you. To change that later, open Settings → Permissions → Notifications. That opens your device notification settings for Friday — not an in-app toggle.

Friday does not ask for precise location on install. Weather and nearby suggestions work best with precise location. Enable it from Settings → Permissions → Location Access, which opens your device location settings for Friday.

Yes. Settings → Calendar & Planning includes Calendar Preferences and External Calendars. You can connect Apple Calendar on iOS and Google Calendar on supported platforms. Those providers have their own privacy settings.

Hosts can invite Friday friends and, with permission, contacts. Invitees can RSVP, view details, and follow updates. Some Events allow forwarding; others stay limited to people the host invited.

An FYI is a lighter share — useful when someone should know about a plan without being a full participant. FYI threads stay separate from the main Event conversation.

Use a poll when the date is still open. People vote, then a host can lock a date and convert the Spark into an Event.

Settings → Your Profile. You can edit name, photo, bio, link, handle, and phone number. Phone changes are verified with a code.

Settings includes Delete Account. You can also email privacy@friday.social. We delete or anonymise personal data within 30 days unless law requires us to keep it longer.
